FocusCap

Built with love

The small team behind FocusCap.

FocusCap is made by the team at Untitledproduct.com — a small, independent product studio that likes building the kind of tools we wish existed. No growth hackers, no sprawling org chart. Just a handful of designers and engineers who care a little too much about the details.

FocusCap started the way most of our projects do: with a mild annoyance that wouldn't go away. Every time we wanted to share a quick recording — a bug report, a walkthrough, a "here's what I mean" — we found ourselves juggling three different apps: one to capture the screen, one to cut out the awkward pauses, and one to figure out why the export was 4 gigabytes. Recording something should be as fast as describing it. It never was.

So we built the recorder we wanted to use. One that lives quietly in your menu bar and starts capturing in a single click. One that treats the transcript as the editor, so deleting an "um, so basically" from the text deletes it from the video. One that can trim and stitch clips without a timeline degree, and re-voice your recording in another language when your audience doesn't speak yours.

We sweat the small things because we're our own first users. The glow on the record button, the way the camera bubble sits just right, the fact that your microphone toggle remembers what you picked last time — none of that ships by accident. When something feels off by two pixels, someone here loses sleep over it, and honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way.

We also have some firm beliefs about how a tool like this should behave. Your recordings belong to you — private by default, encrypted, never used to train models, deletable in one click. A free plan should be genuinely useful, not a nagging trial. And software should feel light: fast to open, fast to record, fast to share. If FocusCap ever stops feeling that way, that's a bug, and we'd like to hear about it.

We're just getting started. Meeting recordings with AI summaries are on the way, along with a Chrome extension and a mobile app. If you have an idea, a complaint, or just want to say hi, write to us — a human reads every message. Usually the same humans who built the thing.
